Burkhardt Gallery is a fine art gallery in Cloverdale, Oregon, displaying the work of Marilyn Burkhardt.
I am a multi-media artist, and my various media include oil paintings, original prints (lino-cut, woodcut, lithographs, etchings, screen prints), fine art reproductions, encaustics, suminagashi (Japanese Paper Marbling), artist’s greeting cards, ceramic tiles, pen and ink on paper, and bronze sculptures. Over the last few years I have been exploring the world of clay, and you will find my clay tiles and sculpture in the gallery as well.

With my art, I want to express and share my love of nature and animals. Behind this love is my ardent hope that we humans are able to alter our behavior in order for wild creatures and wild habitat to survive. I’m a believer in animal rights, and images of my dogs and horses, rather than the human form, claim space on the gallery walls.

Burkhardt Gallery is located in Cloverdale, a traditionally dairy farming town. On the west facing side of the gallery building, I have painted a mural of dairy cows with their calves, and also a deer with its fawn, and sheep with their lambs. The concept behind the mural is that babies belong with their mothers. Unfortunately, this natural state of affairs does not prevail in dairy farming. Calves are taken from their mothers shortly after being born.

I invite you to visit the Burkhardt Gallery and experience what I’m told is my unique sensibility expressed through my art.
